OES Fall Mileage Club

Under the direction of Mrs. Boller & Ms. Daniels the OES Mileage Club started. All students are eligible to join the club and they can walk, run or jog on top hill to earn tokens, certificates and other rewards. The Mileage club will only meet in the mornings before school starting at 7:30 am. Each lap the participating student completes around the field earns a punch on their mileage card. Every time a student fills up a mileage card he or she will get a token to put on their shoelaces, a necklace or key chain.?

Box Tops for Education

The OES Box Top for Education drive will begin October 10th.  The drive will run from the 10th through the 21st.   Last year OES students and families collected over $1500 worth of Box Tops! Help us reach our goal of $2000 and clip Box Tops and bring to O.E.S.

REMEMBER—every Box Top counts and gets us closer to our goal and thank you for the continued support of our school.

OES PTO Fall Fundraiser

OES PTO Fall Fundraiser will be starting on Monday October 10th. Look for packets to come home with students on this day. We encourage ALL families to participate by sharing the catalogs with friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers! This is our most significant source of funds for the year, as we receive 40-50% profit from each item sold. The fundraiser will conclude on October 24st. For more information or questions please contact Lisa Hanna, at 476 4212. ext. 2093

Congratulations to the Orofino Elementary 5th & 6th grade students and their teachers for the blue ribbon on the OES fair booth at this year’s county fair!

The junior high dance at the Maniac Teen Center on Thursday night brought out 72 of the 105 students enrolled in the two classes. Well done, Junior High Maniacs!

THE GREAT SPARTAN FROG RACE!   HOP TO THE TOP!

On 9/29/16 Timberline Elementary had the first “Great Spartan Frog Race!”  The intent of this activity was to incentivize student performance in reading and motivate our elementary students to a great start this year.  Students in grades k-6 were allowed to participate if they had met their individual reading goals.  Students were highly motivated to earn their goals this quarter in order to participate.  The activity was a “hopping” success!

The festivities began with an elementary assembly in the gymnasium.  Mr. Hunter and Mrs. Cooper acknowledged students for their hard work in reaching their reading goals and highlighted success so far this year.  Each class then paraded their frogs on a float around the gymnasium for all to see.  Floats were pulled by students or radio controlled cars.  Students were dressed up in green and some had costumes.  All students were provided a special frog cookie created by Sherry’s Bakery in Weippe.

The race began with a representative from each class in charge of racing their frog.  The students started in the middle of the gymnasium and released their frogs on Mr. Hunter’s command.  The frogs raced to the outer boundaries of the court.  The first frog to clear the line in any direction was declared the winner.  The Kindergarten class won the first round claiming the traveling trophy.  In subsequent rounds, most other classes won at least one race.  Students and staff had a great time celebrating reading success in the “Great Spartan Frog Race!”
